Deep Sea Fashion

Below is a suite of works done over this term. Under each will be a description of its process, but as a whole this suite attempts to show a viewer a new world. One with butterfly's in suits and angler fish flying above the skyline.

This mixed media piece contains drawing and collage. The car itself is an adhesive vinyl, while the road, tires, and brick were printed. I found some transparent film for the windows and street light. And the rest was drawn. This was originally a part of a different city suite with two other works, but if deep sea fashion were to happen anywhere, it would be here.

This piece is fully collage, made of fashion and nature magazines.

This work is fully charcoal. Depicting the moon over a skyline through the trees, next to an angler fish and a submarine. This was originally based off of a picture featured in Appleton at Night, and then I added the skyline and deep sea entity's.

This one was quite a process. I cut up multicolored construction paper and glued it as such. I then projected a picture of Lawrence onto the canvas and traced it. (That building on the right side is main hall). I then projected some deep sea creatures to fill in the blank spots. Then collaged a suit with a butterfly for the head, after considering a cat, lizard, and bunny. Then taped a border and covered the entire thing with this clear plastic adhesive sheet I found at the store. I think this work has a lot of potential and I could see my self doing an entire suite with this same process in the future.

Finally this work was done with colored pencil. This was my first time really attempting a piece with colored pencil and I can say I am a fan. I traced an outline of an angler fish off of the projector, and sketched the general colors before taking it off the wall and onto a flat surface to really make the colors saturated. This one ate my entire black pencil, but I would say it was worth it.
